Feeling the weight of the US election results today. It’s everywhere. It’s not my country but I feel the heaviness and despair that comes with knowing an overwhelming majority of your fellow countrymen do not care about your voice, needs or safety.

We felt this with The Voice referendum results in Australia. Where previously we felt hope that people understood, we suddenly had confirmation of the racism and violence that existed right next door. Pain. Woman around the world are feeling this with yesterdays vote.

You would rather a rapist than a woman….

Today, like everyday, we get up, get dressed, take up space and make waves until it floods the earth. Xx

I keep thinking the exact same thing “you would rather a rapist than a woman” and it shakes me to my very core.

I too am completely ravaged by this election result. I feel for all good and noble Americans who have had to witness this carnage happening actually to them.

Now I must recalibrate and remember he has been there before and hopefully we get through the next four years able to fight another fight🩵

I seem to remember all this angst eight years ago. The world survived. If anyone reading Mia's article truly believes that the last four years in American politics have seen an improvement in the world, they're delusional. Just to clarify, I REALLY don't like Trump. He's a bombastic buffoon.

However, the day I allow his re-election as President to turn me into a blubbering, over emotional fool, is the day hell will freeze over. For god's sake you women, get a grip! What sort of example are you setting your children? Where the hell is your strength as women and mothers? Thank god I was raised in the days when women were loved and appreciated for their strength as well as their vulnerability.

Reading some of these comments has literally amazed me. I've learned that today's women have totally lost their very being, if the majority of comments on here are representative of today's women.

I just feel so sad. I exist in my home with my husband and sons who I know love me but I have never felt so unworthy, unvalued, invisible and lonely as a result of this election.

Same.. I have an amazing husband and three sons but unable to explain to them why it feels so awful

More women voted for Trump than Harris! You people need to think about that! Watching the woke left melt down today is sweet!

I don’t understand how half a population (including lots of women) voted for this heinous man. I despair that half a population agree with him, admire him , believe in him.

I am exhausted by it. And scared of what direction the rest of the world will take .

I am following Mia’s example and not buying in, not reading anything about it and not watching any news feeds for a while.

Great Australian Bake Off is looking good!!

Thank you for the Lisa Jewel rec. I am in a reading slump (again!) & want to not be in a slump.

When I need soothing (which has been way too often this year) I watch pimple popping videos. I know that it grosses a lot of people out but it works for me. You have your fashion vids & I have pimple ones. Whatever worlds right?!

And I am a very happy paid supporter of MM. I have been reading your work from way back in the magazine & newspaper days. It makes me feel good to put my money towards a female lead media company but I also can’t live without Out Loud!

It’ll be ok Mia. Just think, after these 4 years we won’t have to deal with him any more. We can do it x

I feel you Mia.. I felt a bit hopeless for women and girls in the US and really for the world. Look at Afghanistan ugh, it’s depressing. So I am just avoiding listening, especially to the orange one and having some quiet thinking also.

Yes. I too had to turn off all news. Did the same after the voice referendum. It’s sad, disappointing and …. very strange. Disappointing that women, immigrants and ppl of colour/different cultures- our rights are such a low priority in this world. I feel like I must work harder to ensure that the far right, raciest, misogynist are stopped from doing the same in our wonderful sunburnt country. But for the next few days I need to sit and let it sink in. Peace and quiet.

Utter madness. NYC used to be my favourite place to visit. Now I’m unsure I feel safe to travel to America again. Not because of terrorism anymore but its citizens. Particularly males. Feels like we’ve woken up in a horrible nightmare.
