Welcome to the Sexy 6 edition of my Babble newsletter where I share with you the six things I want to pash this week. But first….. let’s BABBLE. This is an exclusive Babble - not for Instagram, just for readers of this newsletter.
The first 30 seconds is some of my best work.
THE SEXY SIX
1. Gag gifts
When we were doing our tour for Outloud, I surprised my cohosts with these presents live on stage on the final night. In case you don’t listen to the show (why tho), Holly has taken up gardening with gusto and I knew how much Jessie would loathe the earnest quote - someone sent it to me as a meme but I found it on a mug.
ou can find or make pretty much anything on Red Bubble.
Behold my dumb gifts for my smart friends
2. Getting my colours done
I always thought the idea of ‘colour seasons’ was a silly crock. Are you a ‘Spring” etc? It was a very 80s thing but naturally, it’s back. So also naturally, I tried it. Sheep etc.
We got an expert into Mamamia to do our colours and I’m an Autumn and it’s changed my life. I think I’m going to do a whole newsletter about it bc honestly, I’ve become a season evangelist.
3. These Ganni dupes
The Ganni ballerina is the flat-shoe equivalent of the Adidas sambas. By this I mean that it’s another shoe that’s gone fashion viral and provided a feet-first update for any outfit that somehow feels more ‘now’ that before you slipped them on. The OG Ganni ballerina flat is around $600 but these dupes are each under $100. I found them both on the Iconic: Dazie flats and Ravella. Probably wear the same shoe on both feet but I wanted to show you how fun they are and I couldn’t be bothered taking two photos.
4. Gracie Abrams’ new album
I’ve been listening to Taylor’s Tortured Poets Department album on repeat for so long that I feel like if you cut me, I would bleed those songs. Not in a bad way but it’s getting slightly concerning how much I listen to them and I need a palette cleanser. This is doing the trick. And yes I know it has a Taylor duet shut up, this is me trying.
5. The ‘Mia’ dress
I saw this dress on Jackie O and when I went hunting for it, I discovered a new female-founded small Australian fashion brand: Sleeping With Jacques. It’s called the MIA dress so clearly this was meant to be on my body. Should I have steamed it before trying it on? Yes. Did I find lots of different ways to wear it? I really did, thanks for asking. I think it looks best with a light colour - cream or off-white. I like denim, too.
6. The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders doco
We’re talking about this on Mamamia Outloud this week. Holly told me to watch it and even though I didn’t make it through the second season of Cheer, this is a different kind of cheer. Pom poms. Oppressive beauty standards. And absolute exploitation.
I like this kind of stream-of-consciousness babble Mia. Reminds me of when I ‘found’ you during the pandemic and you brightened my day! xx
Can I get a full explanation of substack on out loud sometime? I am very confused by it and how I should use it? Is it social media or….would save me doing my own research lol
