Hi I’m Mia and this is my newsletter where I write things. Babble is a reader-supported publication so if someone forwarded it to you, you can sign-up below. It says “subscribe” but it’s free.
Here are some of the things I have been really into this week…..
This sparkly denim shirt/jacket from Zara I added a brooch to dial up the sparkle a bit and I have worn it non-stop since I bought it, both as a jacket and a shirt. I’ve worn it with jeans, blue Adidas trackies and plain black pants. An unexpected wardrobe staple overnight.
2. Samba trainers by Adidas. Honestly, it’s a sickness. I am now saying that I ‘collect’ them to justify my obsession. They go with everything though. Classic. Get a white pair if you’re a beginner or you want to play it safe.
Confetti Rebels Tee. The female-founder of this label sent this tee to me after hearing me lament on Mamamia Outloud how I was having a bad week feeling like I was too much. It has just the right mix of defiance and self-awareness.
This book is about a Gen Z woman who has an affair with a much older Gen X colleague. Loved it. Her worldview is so bleak but also funny and the POV of the ‘other woman’ felt fresh.
Needling. It’s expensive and no, of course you don’t need it because also it hurts a lot (I get numbing cream first). But I’ve been getting it around once a month for a few months now and I think my skin is plumper? The idea is that the trauma the tiny needles inflict on your skin (!) makes it send lots of collagen to repair the damage. Because as you age, you naturally produce less collagen.
In effect, you are tricking your skin into cranking up production by pretending there is an emergency. Trinny launched a home needling DIY tool a few weeks ago and that would certainly be a cheaper option if you were interested in trying it out but I’m not sure how I would go doing it myself…….
I have tried a bunch of self tanners over the years and I’ve just returned to this one. For a while I was into the drops you put in your moisturiser and they are good (I use one of those for my face every couple weeks but it can be fiddly) but this wins for body. It’s not a full strength self-tanner, it’s like half strength or less. So I use one pump with a pump of regular body moisturiser to dilute it even further and I do that every day or two. That way you just stay a bit golden ongoing. It doesn’t ever look like you have a fake tan. And it’s an Australian female-founded biz so that makes it even better.
Summer dresses. After months of jeans and trackies (and suits! who even am I?), I’m suddenly craving dresses. I don’t even know where to get the kind of dress I have in my head and I wanted some inspo so I started with this story which had a great round-up.
If you enjoyed this, feel free to share it with someone else. I’d love that, actually. If you hated it though, maybe don’t tell anyone.
Mia, you are beautiful. You don’t need any help. Just saying.
